Why Do Residents Choose Davidsonville?

Davidsonville Historic District

Davidsonville Historic District is located in the heart of the community and is comprised of a total of fifteen properties—three churches, one commercial building, and 11 houses, including Thomas Davidson’s home. This historic district is significant due to its resilience in remaining an example of what a rural community should resemble. The community has stayed true to its rural roots regardless of intensive development pressure from surrounding areas.

Parks & Recreation

With relatively little commercial development, Davidsonville is home to numerous community parks that span hundreds of acres. Home of the Gators, Davidsonville Park hosts Davidsonville Athletic Association sporting events. In addition to sports, the park has lengthy hiking trails and river boating. For any fun-filled activity imaginable, you can go to Riverwood Park—this park has a roller hockey court, two baseball fields, and basketball and tennis courts.

Education

Served by Anne Arundel County Public Schools, Davidsonville has six local schools, including an exemplary elementary school in the heart of the community. Davidsonville Elementary School educates about 700 students in the area.

Anne Arundel County Free School—the first free school in Anne Arundel County turned modern-day museum—was built in Davidsonville in the 1700s. Serving a prominent role in Davidsonville history, this school is the only surviving schoolhouse in Maryland, and it allegedly educated Johns Hopkins—the founder of Johns Hopkins Hospital and Johns Hopkins University.

Local Dining

Dine your way through Davidsonville with some of the most delicious restaurants in the area. Build your own pizza or try a scrumptious stromboli at Pizza Boli’s. An Irish pub built on tradition, the Killarney House features Irish fare, an extensive whiskey selection, and regular live music. And because everyone needs more down-home smoked barbecue in their life, Chad’s BBQ is a community favorite.

Dream Homes

Whether you want a home in one of the area’s waterfront neighborhoods or prefer a plot of expansive farmland on the outskirts of town, you can find your dream home in Davidsonville. Home styles vary largely in Davidsonville, with homes featuring everything from in-ground pools and koi ponds to wrought-iron fences and southern style front porches—seriously, there are custom farmhouses and colonial homes alike available in this area.
